Waveguide filter with dielectric resonators

Ku-band (Fo = 14.5 GHz) 2% bandpass filter with IL = 1 dB at Fo. The 4-pole filter is housed in a waveguide with inner dimensions (7.8 mm x 7.8 mm x 58 mm), normally used at frequencies above 20 GHz. The length of the filter is half of that of a conventional metal-insert filter with the same bandwidth.

The filter is synthesized/analyzed with software developed by GWT. The analysis follows a mode matching approach in which the electromagnetic field is described by an - in principle - infinite sum of modes.
For the present filter 17 modes have been included.
